An Overview of USCBC Programs

The Programs at USCBC means outreach and events. We provide numerous opportunities for members to interact with leading business and government representatives from the US and China concerning key issues in US-China commercial relations. Major ongoing events include:

Annual Conferences

Forecast:
Held in Washington in early February, our annual Forecast conference offers a full day of presentations and seminars on US-China commercial issues, and provides a superb opportunity to meet other China-active business executives, government officials, and China experts. Morning sessions outline expectations for China's investment climate, economic environment, and political changes in the year ahead. A luncheon speech is followed by afternoon company strategy sessions on policy and operations issues faced by companies doing business in China.

China Operations:
Held in Beijing and Shanghai, China Operations focuses on the wide range of business issues faced by companies on the ground in China. The day-long program begins with a dinner at which American company representatives have a chance to mingle informally with ministry officials and distinguished China academics. The morning sessions features presentations on China's economy and political outlook, and the afternoon consists of breakout sessions during which companies share experiences and challenges in the local business environment.

Annual Meeting:
The USCBC Annual Membership Meeting is held in Washington in early June of each year. The meeting provides another full-day overview of business and economic trends in China, as well as a forum for the discussion of major US-China policy issues. New Board members are also elected during the meeting. Recent guest speakers have included Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Brent Scowcroft and Former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, Senior Partner, Baker Botts LLP.

"China on the Hill":
The "China on the Hill" series provides a unique opportunity for Members of Congress to meet with key companies from their state to discuss US-China commercial issues. Companies share their on-the-ground perspectives on doing business in China and dialogues with legislators and congressional staffers on areas of mutual concern. Thus far 100 Members of Congress and over 186 of their staff members from 22 states have participated in the program's 27 meetings.
