Administrative Assistant, Washington, DC
The US-China Business Council (USCBC) is seeking an assistant to fill an immediate administrative opening. The USCBC is a private, nonprofit membership organization with more than 250 corporate members, headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices in Beijing and Shanghai.
The position will directly assist the director of Membership Services, who is responsible for invoicing companies for membership renewals, collection of payments, and the maintenance of all member records; business manager, Publications, who is responsible for all commercial operations of USCBC's flagship publication, the China Business Review; and the director of Management and Budget, who is responsible for all aspects of the USCBC's finances and human resources programs.
Specific responsibilities of the position will be as follows:
Membership Services:
- Database entries and management
- Assisting with monthly membership renewal billings
- Payments processing and reporting
- File organization and maintenance
- Other duties as required
Publications:
- Processing subscription orders and invoicing
- Managing and updating circulation management database
- Generating accounting and subscription data reports
- Assisting with direct mail campaigns
- Packaging and mailing magazines and other materials
- Other duties as required
Accounting/Human Resources:
- Assisting with processing cash receipts, cash disbursements, and credit card transactions
- Maintaining HR files
- Providing occasional backup for the director of Management and Budget
Qualifications:
- Excellent attention to detail
- Basic bookkeeping skills
- Experience with data entry
- Knowledge of office procedures
- Excellent organizational ability
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Knowledge of ACT!, Quickfill, and web-based databases a plus
Terms:
This position is full-time. Starting annual salary in the mid-$30s, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance on a cost-shared basis, company-funded disability and life insurance, three weeks vacation in the first year, sick leave, potential for annual bonus, and a generous SEP-IRA retirement plan (effective after 12 months of employment).
