US Company Contributions for Earthquake Relief

The US-China Business Council (USCBC) encourages American companies to continue to support relief and reconstruction efforts under way in China in response to the devastating earthquake that hit Sichuan Province on May 12.

In the weeks following the earthquake, USCBC developed and maintained a list of donations by USCBC members and other US companies. As of June 6, these donations totaled more than $85 million in aid to earthquake victims, including $49 million in cash and pledges of in-kind goods and services worth more than $36 million. Company contributions, especially with employee matching programs, have continued to expand since that time.

With relief work now transitioning into reconstruction, the Business Roundtable is coordinating a public-private partnership to explore longer-term reconstruction projects. USCBC is assisting this effort in an advisory role. The Business Roundtable continues to update the donations list begun by USCBC, which can be found at http://www.respondtodisaster.com/mambo/.


3M China has made an initial donation of RMB 1.1 million ($157,000) in cash and RMB 3.05 million ($435,000) of medical and security materials to the Red Cross Society of China to actively support the medical personnel and rescue workers in the disaster area in their emergency work and for post-disaster disease prevention.

A. O. Smith's Nanjing water heater operation has donated RMB 1 million ($143,000) to the Red Cross Society of China earmarked for relief efforts. Nanjing also will donate 10 RMB from the profits of each water heater sold between now and June 14, which the operation estimates will result in another RMB 1 million in donations. The company's Electrical Products and Water Products facilities in China are beginning employee donation campaigns, and a US employee donation program will be launched shortly.

The AT&T Foundation has established an employee matching program with support up to $500,000 to go to the American National Red Cross International Response Fund for China earthquake relief.

Abbott is providing $1 million in funding and product donations, working with trusted relief partners Project HOPE and Heart to Heart International, and in collaboration with the Chinese government. Abbott product donations, including antibiotics, will be distributed as part of rapid relief shipments to local hospitals and health care facilities.

ACE has donated $1 million to the China Red Cross for earthquake relief and assistance.

Agilent Technologies Foundation and employees together have already given $375,000, which includes matched employee gifts to the Red Cross plus $150,000 for schools in the hardest hit area. The company is matching employee gifts and will also look for opportunities for its chemical analysis or communications test equipment to provide assistance.

Air Products & Chemicals The Air Products Foundation has committed $100,000 to the international organization Save the Children, which has operated within China for more than 70 years. Within the Asia region, Air Products is setting up and implementing a process to collect voluntary donations from local employees. Air Products will then match donations from employees in Asia, and all proceeds will go to the Red Cross in China.

Albany International Operations in China will donate RMB 100,000 ($14,000) and will match employee contributions to the earthquake relief effort.

Alcatel-Lucent's China flagship, Alcatel Shanghai Bell (ASB), as soon as the news broke dispatched its 24-hour emergency response team of 100 engineers to the earthquake -stricken area to support customers with disaster response and network recovery. The team worked with the major operators in Sichuan to help identify the status of Alcatel-Lucent equipment in the quake-hit areas and support the equipment restoration. The company also cooperated with local operators to draft emergency communication plans and reconstruction plans after the earthquake. The company has donated more than RMB 5 million ($718,000) while the company's philanthropic arm, the Alcatel-Lucent Foundation, donated $150,000 to the International Red Cross. Alcatel Shanghai Bell has made an additional contribution of 2 million RMB through the Red Cross Society of China. The employees of Alcatel Shanghai Bell and other Alcatel-Lucent have committed almost RMB 4 million ($574,000).

American International Group's AIG Disaster Relief Fund will make an initial $1 million contribution to Give2Asia, a philanthropic organization affiliated with The Asia Foundation. The company will also match all employee contributions to the AIG Disaster Relief Fund. AIG's subsidiaries' American International Assurance (AIA) China, AIG General (China) and other AIG companies in China will commit an additional approximately RMB 2.3 million ($330,000). AIA alone donated an initial RMB 2 million. This amount from the AIG companies in China and their employees will be used for immediate rescue and recovery assistance through local NGOs or relevant government organizations in China.

American Express Foundation has made a $100,000 contribution to China through the International Red Cross. As of May 27, including company matching, employees in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China have also donated more than $100,000 to local charities. The employee donation and company matching program are ongoing.

Amway's total contributions to date have reached RMB 21.2 million ($3.05 million) from a combination of Amway corporate donations and contributions from employees and sales agents and Amway affiliates in Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Amway China has given RMB 2.2 million ($316,000) to the Sichuan and Gansu Red Cross societies for immediate disaster relief and reconstruction efforts, including rebuilding of a primary school that collapsed in Chengdu City and killed 50 students. The company also contributed RMB 10 million ($1.4 million) to the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Employee and distributor donations have reached RMB 555,000 ($80,000) and RMB 3.35 million ($480,000), respectively. Amway affiliates together donated $170,000.

ANDA Networks has contributed to the American Red Cross, and its China operations have contributed to the Red Cross Society of China.

Anheuser-Busch is donating RMB 3.5 million ($500,000) to the Red Cross Society of China to aid relief efforts for earthquake victims. The company also will provide more than RMB 7.7 million ($1.1 million) or 425,000 cases of fresh drinking water to the area.

Applied Materials, through Applied Materials China, will be making a contribution of RMB 1 million ($143,000) to the Red Cross Society of China on behalf of the company and its employees.

Arch Chemicals has donated $10,000 to the Red Cross for China earthquake relief efforts. Arch's Chinese employees have donated RMB 27,000 ($3,900) to the Suzhou Red Cross. The company is also donating three tons of calcium hypochlorite to the Suzhou branch of the Red Cross for use in treating drinking water in the affected region.

Asian American Coal will be donating RMB 70,000 ($10,000) to the Red Cross Society of China.

Bechtel is setting up a matching contribution fund for employee disaster relief contributions.

Best Buy China donated 100 two-way radios for relief workers and tents to provide shelter for the victims. Best Buy China employees have personally contributed RMB 3 million ($276,000) to the Red Cross Society of China. Employees also organized blood drives. In addition, the Best Buy store in Shanghai will donate 5 percent of its total sales revenue between May 23 and May 31 to aid in the rebuilding of Sichuan schools. Best Buy Co. Inc. also made an enterprise donation of RMB 7 million ($644,000) to support the relief efforts. Best Buy's total contributions to date have reached RMB 10 million ($920,000).

The Boeing Company together with Shenzhen Airlines, Medical Teams International, and Mercy Corps, delivered nearly three tons (U.S.) of medical supplies for victims of the recent China earthquake in an effort called "Flight of Hope." The supplies, provided by Medical Teams International, were carried to China on a new Boeing 737-800 airplane and to Shenzhen and then transferred to a domestic flight to Chengdu airport. Upon arrival, Mercy Corps will partner with All China Youth Federation to distribute the supplies within the earthquake region. Boeing also pledged $250,000 to the American Red Cross for earthquake relief and is matching contributions made by its employees and retirees through June 12. The current combined total exceeds $500,000.

The Boston Consulting Group has launched a dollar-for-dollar matching donation program for its global staff, which will be contributed to the Red Cross Society of China for Sichuan earthquake rescue and relief efforts. The program includes funds raised by the firm's alumni at various business schools worldwide.

BP China announced on May 29 that the BP Foundation will provide an additional $1.3 million to Chinese Red Cross Foundation in a move to support the rescue and reconstruction efforts in the earthquake-struck zone in Sichuan. The donation was made following an initial contribution of $0.2 million soon after the devastating earthquake on May 12, increasing BP's total donation to $1.5 million. The BP Foundation has also launched a global employee campaign to encourage its worldwide staff to make their individual contributions through the national Red Cross in the country in which they work. The employee contributions shall be added up by mid June, and then matched by the BP foundation before it is delivered to the Red Cross Society of China. To date, BP China employees have donated RMB 600,000 ($55,200) as part of this global initiative.

Cargill China has collected over RMB 6.8 million ($981,000) in earthquake relief funds. Donations to help the people affected by the earthquake have originated from its corporate headquarters in the United States, China business units, Cargill offices in other countries and Cargill employees inside and outside of China. In addition to a large contribution from Cargill's headquarters, Cargill's senior management declared that the company would match employee contributions $1 for $1. Cargill employees from 28 locations in China enthusiastically responded to this relief campaign through their local committees of Cargill China Cares Council (CCCC). In addition, Cargill businesses and employees in China are supporting long-time partner China Children and Teenagers' Fund for school-rebuilding efforts as part of a longer-term recovery effort in their communities.

Case New Holland (CNH) joined its sister companies of the Fiat Group in providing earthquake relief. Case Construction/CCMS donated an Imola-made Case 695 TLB (tractor Loader Backhoe) complete with hydraulic hammer, parts, tools and oils with a total value of RMB 1.2 million ($172,000). The machine was donated to China's Air Force and is currently on the way to the disaster area. New Holland Construction, represented in China by Kobelco and Kobelco Group (Kobelco & Kobe Steel), has donated 5 machines and RMB 1 million ($143,000) for the victims of the earthquake and Chengdu. More recently, New Holland Agricultural donated a SNH 50, 4WD, tractor with Cab and the 5-ton dumper trailer to the Red Cross (Shanghai Commission).

The Caterpillar Foundation has donated $550,000 to date, which has been split between the American Red Cross and the World Food Program, and will match up to an additional $500,000 in gifts from Cat employees, retirees, directors and dealer employees. The company's total potential contribution could reach $1.55 million. In addition, Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi has made a donation of 10 million yen ($95,650) to the Japanese Red Cross to be used for disaster relief in China. Employees at Catepillar's FG Wilson dealership in Hong Kong have contributed more than $78,500, and the dealership has mobilized a significant number of generator sets for use in relief efforts. ECI-Metro, the Cat and SEM dealer in the affected area, has provided a fleet of 22 machines, work tools, and generators sets for rescue operations, along with a team of skilled operators. Three other Caterpillar dealers in China have mobilized an additional 40 units of Cat equipment and teams of operators to stand by for a second dispatch. These in-kind donations are valued at $10 million.

Celanese and its joint ventures have made an initial donation of RMB 850,000 ($122,000) and launched a contribution program to match employee donations for disaster relief.

Chart Inc., sole owner of Chart Asia, Inc. is contributing on behalf of its worldwide employees to the American Red Cross to provide aid through their China affiliate to the victims of the recent China earthquake.

Chevron has donated RMB 10 million ($1.4 million) to the Sichuan Province Red Cross, an affiliate of the Red Cross Society of China. Chevron has an interest in the Chuandongbei gas project, which is located in the province.

Chindex International, Inc., a health care company with operations in China's southwest, and its China-based healthcare services division, United Family Healthcare (UFH), responded to the recent earthquake disaster by providing medical supplies, personnel, and other in- kind donations. Due to its unique position in the healthcare industry, Chindex was able to obtain a supply list from local hospitals, including the Mianyang Health Bureau, in the hardest hit areas of Sichuan. Through a program of employee donations and company matching funds Chindex and UFH quickly and successfully delivered over RMB 450,000 ($65,000) in relief aid to the front lines of the earthquake zone. Among their donations, the company has made a large delivery of antibiotics to Huaxi Women's Hospital. Chindex also sent icepacks, bandages, rehydration salts, and hand disinfectants on a Red Cross charter plane with volunteers headed to Sichuan. Chindex plans to continue its relief and support efforts by sending needed personnel and materials to the earthquake zone and to continue its psychological and counseling work with survivors, relief workers, and the media.

Chrysler has contributed to relief efforts and is matching employee contributions. In addition, the US-based Chrysler Asia Network is raising funds that will be used for disaster assistance.

The Chubb Corporation has established a $1 million fund for disaster relief efforts related to the Myanmar cyclone and China earthquake. Chubb will contribute $500,000 directly to the American Red Cross for relief efforts connected to the two catastrophes. In addition, the insurer will match employee contributions to qualified relief organizations on a two-for-one basis, up to $500,000. If employee donations total more than $500,000, Chubb will continue to match those dollars on a one-for-one basis.

Cisco has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross for transfer to the Red Cross Society of China; the donation is focusing on the immediate relief efforts to assist local victims of the disaster. Cisco is also working with non-governmental agencies, including NetHope, to provide relief and is willing to offer governmental assistance for mobile emergency communications capabilities. In addition to the company donation, the Cisco Foundation will also match employee contributions up to $1 million. To date, Cisco employees have donated $136,678.

Citi China has announced plans to donate RMB 5 million ($735,000) to support disaster relief efforts by the Red Cross in Sichuan. This amount includes a Citi China business donation of RMB 1.7 million ($250,000), a Citi Foundation commitment of RMB 1.7 million ($250,000), as well as donations by Citi employees and businesses around the Asia Pacific region. The company is also matching all employee contributions. Citi and the American Red Cross have established a website that will channel contributions to the Red Cross Society in China. Over 1,800 Citi China staff have already raised more than RMB 718,000 ($102,000) for the Red Cross Society in China. Citi Hong Kong has set up a special China Earthquake Relief Fund account to receive donations from Citi employees outside of Mainland China who would like to contribute to the Hong Kong Red Cross' disaster relief efforts. Over $40,000 was donated to this fund in just two days.

The Coca-Cola Foundation made an initial contribution of $700,000 to the Red Cross Society of China, and donated $1.3 million on May 22 to support ongoing relief efforts via the American Red Cross. The additional $800,000 is from Coca-Cola bottlers in China and from an employee pledge program, launched by Coca-Cola China, where the Company is matching all associate donations. In addition, the Coca-Cola bottler in Sichuan continues to deliver more than 20,000 cases of water a day to the affected areas.

Corning Incorporated The combination of gifts from the Corning Incorporated Foundation, regional offices, and individual employees has topped $207,000 and is likely to keep growing significantly in the days ahead. Organizations that have received funds include Give2Asia, which is working to restore basic needs to the people of Sichuan Province and work within communities to help rebuild local health care facilities, homes, and schools. In fact, Corning and its employee groups around the world are still responding with a wide variety of activities to help provide for those affected by the quake. For example, at the Corning Cable Systems plant in Chengdu, less than 60 miles from the center of the earthquake, employees have set up a collection center for clothing and bedding to be donated directly to quake victims. Workers are also participating in blood drives. Across the China mainland, Corning China employees are contributing funds to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. They are also collecting goods to be transported and distributed in Sichuan Province by the Shanghai Charity Foundation. Corning China's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee continues to examine more ways to help address the tragedy in the weeks and months ahead. More clothing drives and fundraisers are in the works in Corning's Japan offices and other locations. In Corning, New York, the Corning Chinese Association quickly organized to help employees channel their contributions to trustworthy relief organizations.

Cummins' relief and aid now exceeds RMB 6 million ($861,000) and is still increasing. The amount includes cash donations of more than RMB 2.5 million ($360,000) from Cummins (China) Investment Company Limited, together with its mainland joint venture plants and Taiwan distributor; cash donations of more than RMB 1.4 million ($201,000) from Cummins China employees and the equal matching of Cummins Foundation (employees' donations have exceeded RMB 700,000); and emergency standby generator sets for the earthquake-stricken areas valued at RMB 500,000 ($72,000), along with free parts and service for Cummins engine-powered equipment used in earthquake relief, with a total value of at least RMB 1.4 million ($201,000).

Danaher Corporation has committed an initial RMB 2 million ($286,000) in cash and equipment donations to match the RMB 1 million ($143,000) cash donation raised by Danaher China associates countrywide. The combined total of Danaher company and employee donations represent over RMB 3 million ($430,000). Cash donations are being sent through the Red Cross Society of China. In addition, Danaher China companies are supplying needed equipment such as hand tools, power quality and thermometry tools, and water quality testing instrumentation both to aid in immediate disaster relief and the reconstruction/recovery work. At least one Danaher company organized the transportation of the products directly to the chief of disaster relief in Sichuan.

The John Deere Foundation will donate RMB 1. 74 million ($250,000) to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to aid earthquake recovery efforts in China, and will match employee donations of up to $1,000 through the end of its fiscal year.

Dell Inc. has contributed RMB 8 million ($1.15 million) for relief efforts. This is the result of a doubling of Dell's corporate giving, and an overwhelming outpouring of gifts by Dell employees matched by the Dell Foundation. As employee contributions increase, so will matching funds and Dell's total support.

The Walt Disney Company will contribute RMB 7 million ($1 million) in humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake in China. The donation will be put towards acquiring materials for immediate relief efforts, helping and supporting displaced and distressed children and rebuilding damaged schools. In addition, Hong Kong Disneyland Cast Members, as well as Disney's China, Hong Kong and Taiwan-based employees, have made individual monetary contributions to the vales of RMB 300,000 ($43,000) and are collecting blankets and other supplies in an outpouring of concern for the victims.

The Dorsey & Whitney Foundation is contributing $10,000 to the American Red Cross through the AP 2060 China Relief Fund.

The Dow Chemical Company Foundation donated $285,000 to the China Red Cross for immediate emergency aid and $430,000 to the China Youth Development Foundation for school rebuilding. An additional $450,000 was raised through Dow's global employee matching donation program for the American Red Cross China Relief Funds and other charitable organizations. The Dow Water Solutions business has also donated two drinking water units, which can provide drinking water for 6,000 people per day, worth $285,000.

DuPont has contributed through the China Red Cross Foundation 20,000 pairs of Kevlar gloves and 3,500 pieces of Tyvek and Tychem coveralls to address one of the most urgent needs of the rescue operations—protecting rescue professionals while saving lives in the affected area. The products' value is RMB 1.02 million ($146,000). The company also delivered 2.8 million antiseptic hand wipes worth $258,000 to the China Red Cross Foundation. In addition, voluntary employee donations are ongoing.

Emerson and its employees have donated nearly RMB 6.55 million ($946,000) in cash and equipment to the disaster relief efforts. Approximately RMB 4.55 million ($657,000) in cash has been donated to the Red Cross Society of China and other relief organizations, of which employees have donated RMB 2.6 million ($375,000). In addition, Emerson Network Power has donated equipment worth RMB 2 million ($286,000) and dispatched engineers to telecom operators located in the affected areas to assist them in reestablishing communications links

ExxonMobil As of May 28, the total contribution from ExxonMobil China and its employees to Sichuan earthquake relief efforts has amounted to $390,700.

FedEx on June 1 donated a FedEx charter to deliver 52 tons of aid provided by Star TV including tents, tarps, quilts, noodles and drinking water from Taiwan to local authorities in Chengdu. This was in addition to the joint FedEx effort with Heart to Heart to deliver the first private airlift of relief supplies to China from the US on Friday, May 23. More than 250 pallets of critically needed medical supplies valued at more than $1.5 million, were loaded aboard a FedEx MD-11 cargo plane and delivered to the quake zone in China. Heart to Heart has been serving the people of Chengdu for more than 11 years and is working closely with the China Red Cross Society in support of the relief effort. FedEx is also donating RMB 2 million ($286,000) to the Red Cross in support of the efforts of the China Red Cross Society. Total in-kind contributions from FedEx as of June 1 totaled $1.2 million.

Fluor has established a program to match, dollar for dollar, employee contributions through the China Charity Federation, a local United Way member organization. To date, Fluor has contributed RMB780,000 ($112,000) to the China Charity Foundation, of which Fluor China employees have contributed RMB 330,000 ($47,000).

FMC has donated RMB 300,000 (US$43,000) to the China Charity Federation, for relief for Sichuan earthquake victims. This donation was made by four divisions of FMC China including APG China, APG Chemical Technology Consulting (CTC), FMC Biopolymer and FMC Lithium.

Ford Motor Company has announced an initial donation of RMB 5 million (over $700,000) in cash and vehicles together with its joint venture partners and investment companies in China. Ford Transit vehicles, including ambulances, will play a pivotal role in supporting relief efforts for the victims of the China Wenchuan earthquake. Ford has also encouraged its employees to make personal donations to the GlobalGiving project, which Ford Motor Company Fund will match up to RMB 500,000 ($72,000).

General Electric and the GE Foundation provided immediate funds of RMB 10 million ($1.4 million) to the Red Cross Society of China and over half a million dollars of equipment and services to enable ongoing emergency relief efforts. GE employees had donated RMB 1.73 million ($250,000) to the Red Cross Society of China by May 20. Donated items in place to date include 20 portable water treatment systems to provide drinking water for 5,000 people and portable ventilators, anesthesia machines, patient monitors, portable ultrasound, mobile x-ray units, flood lighting for night rescue efforts, roadway lighting, and compact fluorescent lighting.

General Motors General Motors Corp. and its Shanghai GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling joint ventures in China have made an initial donation of RMB 6 million ($860,000) to southwest China's Sichuan Province to support rescue and reconstruction efforts following a massive earthquake on May 12. GM has also set up an employee donation program to assist earthquake victims. The company will match the donations of its employees around the world.

Genetics & IVF Institute GIVF in Shanghai has donated RMB 200,000 ($29,000) in cash. In addition to employee donations, GIVF International has donated $1,000 to the Red Cross Society of China via the American Red Cross.

Goldman Sachs has donated $1 million to Mercy Corps for the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and the Red Cross Society of China.

Goodyear China and its associates have donated RMB 1 million ($143,000) to the Red Cross Society of China and to the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to assist the ongoing search and rescue efforts throughout the affected region.

Grace is making company-matched contributions from Grace China and US-based employees.

Grainger in the United States donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross International Relief Fund for China while Grainger's China operation donated $10,000 and approximately $20,000 in emergency-oriented products to the government agency handling the relief effort. Grainger's China employees have donated $15,000 in personal funds to the Red Cross effort in China. The company will match 4-for-1 all US employee donations to the Red Cross.

GSK China/HongKong has given a cash donation of RMB 10 million ($1.4 million), to the China Red Cross and is in daily contact with the Ministry of Health to monitor healthcare needs. Currently the major need is blood and many of our employees are making blood donations. We expect requests for antibiotics and other medicines, which will be provided as appropriate.

Hercules Incorporated has made an initial donation to the American Red Cross for China earthquake relief. Employees are also contributing to relief.

The Home Depot and The Home Depot China has initially committed $200,000 to the China Charity Foundation and thousands of tents and other supplies for earthquake survivors. Home Depot Stores in China are donating 10 percent of sales from designated brands and are collecting contributions directly from customers to be sent to Chinese relief agencies.

Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation has committed $500,000 to the American Red Cross International Relief Fund in partnership with the Red Cross Society of China for aid in the aftermath of the earthquake that devastated the country's Sichuan Province. HP employees in China have collectively given at least $285,000 - approximately $100,000 of which was donated within the first hour alone of China's appeal for donations. The foundation also has instituted a gift-matching program for HP employee contributions for up to $350,000. In addition, HP will donate approximately $300,000 fair market value worth of IT equipment to help rebuild local schools in the affected communities. HP has established an "earthquake emergency relief team" in China that will work to identify and support affected customers and mobilize volunteer teams to help recovery efforts. These volunteers will help with rebuilding and provide technical expertise to schools and communities in need.

Honeywell's overall donation has exceeded $170,000 as of May 20. The company has committed an RMB 500,000 ($71,429) cash donation and the employee donation through the Asia Pacific region has exceeded $100,000, including RMB 85,000 ($12,143) which has been donated directly to the Red Cross Society of China. Honeywell also launched a donation program among global employees. Once reconstruction efforts begin, Honeywell will work with local organizations to leverage its expertise in housing and shelter, focusing its contributions on rebuilding projects in the affected communities.

IBM employees have donated RMB 3 million ($430,000) to date. In addition, the company is donating servers, software and services to China's Civil Affairs Department to manage its IT system and rescue and donation efforts. IBM has also donated servers to Beijing's Red Cross Blood Center to facilitate blood donation management. IBM is also working to help restore critical functions in southwest China, such as telecommunications, power, and transportation management.

Intel China Ltd. and the Intel Foundation announced on May 22 an additional donation of RMB 35 million ($5 million) to WenChuan County of Sichuan Province, one of the worst-hit areas of the earthquake, to support rebuilding school infrastructure and rehabilitating affected children. Through May 22, Intel's total donations reached RMB 45 million ($6.5 million). Intel Foundation has introduced a matching program through which the company will match Intel employee donations. To date, the total amount of donation from Intel employees around the world and the Intel Foundation has reached RMB 7 million ($1 million). Additionally, Intel China Ltd. has donated rescue facilities and initiated volunteer activities. The company offered RMB 1 million ($143,000) worth of high-performance servers to the Red Cross Society of China for coordination of rescue work. Meanwhile, Intel employees have been volunteering at numerous charity organizations to help with computer system maintenance, management, and coordination. Some have also participated in counseling and medical services.

International Paper has donated a total of 2.5 million RMB to the Sichuan earthquake relief and recovery efforts, primarily through the International Federation of the Red Cross. Also, IP is collecting donations from employees around the globe through its Employee Relief Fund, and will match employee donations dollar for dollar up to $100,000.

Intertek has set up a company-wide program to match all employee contributions to recognized disaster funds such as UNICEF or the Red Cross or Red Crescent societies to help victims of the China earthquake.

INVISTA expanded its initial RMB 200,000 ($28,600) donation to the Red Cross Society of China by an additional 400,000 RMB ($58,000) and is pledging up to RMB 400,000 in matching contributions for the personal donations of INVISTA employees around the globe. INVISTA will match 100 percent of all donations made by INVISTA employees. The potential total support from INVISTA and its employees could exceed 1.4 million RMB ($201,150).

ITT China and Asia-Pacific employees have donated nearly RMB 200,000 ($28,700) to the China Poverty Relief Foundation, which the company is matching. The company has also shipped 10 portable water purification systems into China, worth $300,000.

Johnson Controls As the scope of the devastation in China has become known, Johnson Controls has increased its original donation to the Red Cross Society of China from $500,000 to $1 million for disaster relief efforts. In addition, Johnson Controls' employees located in China have contributed over $300,000 and Johnson Controls' Joint Ventures have contributed $130,000 to the disaster relief efforts as well.

Johnson & Johnson is committing significant cash contributions to immediate relief and long-term rebuilding efforts, and is supporting employee donations through matching gifts. Additionally, Johnson & Johnson affiliate companies in China have announced a commitment of RMB 10 million ($1.4 million) to the Red Cross Society of China, and have donated many of the companies' consumer health care products and medical supplies.

Robert A. Kapp & Associates, Inc. has made a modest contribution to the Asia Foundation's Give2Asia Disaster Recovery Fund for Sichuan earthquake assistance work.

Liberty Mutual Group is increasing its financial support for earthquake relief efforts to $1 million, up $900,000 from its initial RMB 1 million ($143,000) pledge.

LyondellBasell will match at a ratio of 1:1 contributions by employees of a LyondellBasell company to the International Red Cross (or its local-country affiliate) or UNICEF to assist in relief efforts for the people of China and Myanmar as a result of these catastrophic events.

Mary Kay (China) Cosmetics Co., Ltd. donated RMB 3 million ($433,000) to the disaster areas though provincial Red Cross on May 13, the day after the earthquake. As of May 29, Mary Kay's staff and sales force have donated a total of RMB 3,193,765 ($461,000) for earthquake relief and 385 people have signed up for blood donations. The company is planning to add a donation program for disaster area rebuilding.

Merck has donated 1.6 million to date in cash and product donations to address the immediate needs of the recovery efforts. This includes $1 million in medicines that have been donated to support relief efforts The Merck Company Foundation made all US and Puerto Rico-based employee contributions to the American Red Cross - China Relief Fund 2:1, for a total of $291,000 to date. MSD China made an additional contribution of $100,000 to the Red Cross Society of China, and is matching contributions made by employees 1:1; with the match, $214,000 has been given to relief efforts to date. In additional Merck employees in the US have made $26,000 in contributions to relief agencies other than the American Red Cross, which are being match by the Merck Company Foundation 1:1, for a total of $52,000 in additional contributions.

Merrill Lynch Pacific Rim, has contributed $1 million to the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) to rebuild at least 14 schools in earthquake affected areas, provide support to orphanages in the region and offer counseling for children traumatized by the disaster. The CYDF is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to developing Chinese youth, with an emphasis on education. The CYDF has been officially sanctioned by the Chinese government as a priority charity during this crisis. In addition, Merrill Lynch will match, up to U. $1,500, any contributions to the Red Cross International Response Fund that employees or retirees make. This program is above and beyond the regular Matching Gift Program, which matches individual pledges up to $1,500.

MetLife operations in China have contributed RMB 2 million ($289,000) to the Red Cross Society of China for disaster relief to aid victims of the recent Sichuan earthquake. Demonstrating strong commitment to their community, employee contributions to date have surpassed RMB 500,000 ($72,000). MetLife also provided personal accident insurance and accidental medical reimbursement coverage to journalists traveling to Sichuan to cover the disaster.

Microsoft is making an initial donation of RMB 1 million ($143,000) to the Red Cross Society of China. Our China subsidiary is reaching out to local response organizations to identify areas where our technology and other support can help. Where possible, we are proactively reaching out to our small, medium and enterprise customers in the impacted area to offer technical support, free of charge, if assistance is needed to get their technology solutions up and running again.

Mine Safety Appliances donated 4,000 helmets and respiratory mask to help the rescue effort.

Monsanto made an immediate contribution of $150,000 to the China Red Cross and has rolled out a matching plan for up to $5,000 for each employee contribution to the International Red Cross or Crecent organizations.

The Moody's Foundation has donated $50,000 to Save the Children for disaster relief efforts. In addition, all employee donations for recovery efforts will be matched up to a maximum of $5,000 per employee by the foundation.

Morgan Stanley has donated $250,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Program and is encouraging employees and clients to make personal donations, with $178,000 raised in the first seven days in its China and Hong Kong offices alone. Additionally, the company is forming a China Charity Committee that will look at longer-term reparation programs. Morgan Stanley employees based in China are currently working with their clients on relief efforts, such as food delivery to affected areas and a blood donation drive for Sichuan.

Motorola, and its worldwide family have committed more than $300,000 to China earthquake relief. The Company is contributing more than $200,000, including $50,000 to the China Red Cross, $50,000 to a local relief fund, and $100,000 matching agent, employee and retiree contributions to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Heart to Heart International.

New York Life and its worldwide family have committed more than $300,000 to China earthquake relief. The Company is contributing more than $200,000, including $50,000 to the China Red Cross, $50,000 to a local relief fund, and $100,000 matching agent, employee and retiree contributions to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Heart to Heart International.

Nortel has established an employee giving program through the Red Cross and UNICEF. Nortel employee donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Nortel up to $100,000.

NYSE Euronext (NYX) and the NYSE Foundation have approved donations totaling $500,000 to the Red Cross Society of China and the American Red Cross International Response Fund to support the relief efforts associated with the earthquake in China's Sichuan province.

Oracle Corporation has instituted a corporate match program and has pledged to match global employee contribution up to $5 million. Donations will be distributed through the American Red Cross to the Red Cross Society of China.

Oshkosh Truck (Beijing) Commercial Co. Ltd. and its employees have made an initial donation of more than $10,000 toward China's relief efforts.

PDF Solutions, a semiconductor technology and services company in San Jose, CA, has contributed to the American Red Cross and is supporting employee efforts to continue mobilizing individual contributions.

Pepsico donated RMB 1 million ($143,000) to the Red Cross Society of China immediately after the May 12 earthquake along with product donations (food and beverages) to those in need. The Pepsico Foundation donated RMB 8.5 million ($1.23 million) to assist in the reconstruction efforts, bringing total Pepsico and Pepsico Foundation donations to the China earthquake relief to over RMB 10 million ($1.4 million). More than RMB 1.4 million ($202,000) has been collected from Pepsico food and beverage employees worldwide.

Pfizer China has provided RMB 10 million ($1.4 million) in medicines and financial assistance to relief organizations operating in the region worst affected by the massive earthquake. In addition, as of May 16, Pfizer colleagues had donated RMB 891,000 ($128,000) in cash to the Sichuan Red Cross Society of China (RCSC). Pfizer will be providing matching funds for all such donations. We have also had five Pfizer employees serve as volunteers with the RCSC headquarters since May 18 at the request of the relief agency and have identified an additional 45 volunteers to ensure the effort is sustained. In addition, another employee has joined the local relief volunteer team organized by the Sichuan Youth Association. While looking to meet the immediate needs of the Chinese victims through cash and medicines, we are also looking to anticipate their needs beyond the initial rescue efforts and hope to draw on our past experience in working with victims of natural disasters, such as the recent tsunami in Southeast Asia, to help them return to a degree of normalcy.

Philip Morris (China) Management Co. Ltd. has committed a corporate donation of RMB 560,000 ($80,000) to the Red Cross Society of China; employees in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu have personally donated more than RMB 40,000 ($6,000) so far to the Red Cross.

The Procter & Gamble Company has pledged more than RMB 25 million yuan ($3.6 million) in cash and product donations for relief, recovery and rebuilding. Specifically, P&G and its employees donated RMB 3.5 million ($500,000) to the China Red Cross Society; the company delivered almost RMB 12 million ($1.7 million) worth of products; RMB 10 million ($1.4 million) to the China Youth Development Foundation to rebuild schools. P&G has also opened a fund for our employees worldwide to donate with matching funds from the company - P&G Greater China will match up to $150,000.

Prudential Financial has made a $150,000 earthquake relief contribution through its Chinese asset management joint venture, Prudential Everbright. Pru Foundation matched this $150,000 contribution, for a current total contribution of $300,000. In addition, Prudential's US parent company will make a separate contribution to relief efforts.

PPG China has donated RMB 500,000 ($72,000), and the PPG Foundation in Pittsburgh is matching US donations of $25 or more made by PPG US employees and board members. PPG Asia Pacific employees are making donations to relief efforts. In addition, for every can of Master's Mark, IVY and Seigneurie brand paint sold in China through June 30, PPG's architectural coatings business will donate 1 RMB ($0.14) to aid in the recovery efforts.

Qualcomm has donated $500,000 to the Red Cross Society of China to support relief and recovery efforts.

Rohm and Haas China donated RMB 500,000 ($72,000) to the China Red Cross. At the same time, Rohm and Haas launched an appeal to encourage employees around the world to make personal contributions to relief agencies. The company will match employee contributions up to RMB 350,000 ($50,000), raising the potential donation from Rohm and Haas and its employees to RMB 1 million ($143,000).

Standard Chartered Bank will contribute a minimum of RMB 10 million ($1.4 million) toward reconstruction efforts for earthquake victims. This commitment includes donations from staff in China, which Standard Chartered Bank (China) Limited is matching dollar for dollar. More contributions are also expected from Standard Chartered Bank offices worldwide.

Stonebridge International's offices in Washington, DC, Beijing, and Shanghai have donated to the China Youth Development Foundation and the International Red Cross. Employee donations have also been made to these organizations and the Care for Children Network that is rebuilding orphanages in Sichuan.

Sun Microsystems, Inc. Within the first week of communicating its Disaster Relief Drive, employees donated approximately $40,000 to the relief efforts in China. Because Sun matches $1 for $1 employee contributions to qualified nonprofits through the company's worldwide matching gifts program and Sun employees continue to donate through the company's online global giving drive, Sun anticipates that the total contributions to this effort will approach $100,000.

Sybase has made an initial gift of $25,000 to the Red Cross Society of China and will also match certain cash contributions from Sybase employees to China earthquake relief related charities up to a total of $100,000. If the match is fully realized, the total gift to earthquake relief in China will be $200,000.

Target is donating $500,000 to aid in immediate relief efforts in the affected areas. Donations include $250,000 to the Red Cross Society of China in support of overall relief efforts, and $250,000 to Save the Children in support of emergency education and safe places for children. The company will also continue to provide ongoing support through its Target international giving program, as well as through its partnership with the Red Cross on year-round disaster relief for both domestic and international disasters.

Texas Instruments has pledged $250,000 to aid the American Red Cross China Relief Fund for immediate relief efforts. In addition to TI's corporate pledge, its employees have contributed $138,000 to date through the American Red Cross, the Red Cross Society of China, and Texans Credit Union.

Time Warner is directing employees who are interested in contributing to organizations that are currently on the ground including CARE, Save the Children, Doctors without Borders and MercyCorps. To assist with employees' humanitarian efforts, the company has created a company fund through Network for Good that will match employee contributions, dollar-for-dollar, up to $250. These contributions will support emergency relief efforts, as well as long-term recovery and rebuilding, in the affected areas of Myanmar and China. Warner Bros. has made a donation of $140,000 to aid victims of the earthquake and Turner has committed $100,000 to relief efforts in both China and Myanmar. Time Warner is providing information to the public about how to get involved via CNN, including in the section "Impact Your World" on CNN.com.

The Timken Company has made an initial contribution of $100,000 through the Red Cross and is encouraging its associates around the world to make direct donations to support relief efforts.

Trane initiated a global employee donation program with matching corporate contribution to aid disaster relief and rebuilding efforts. The donations are made to the Red Cross Society of China, as well as the American Red Cross designated for the special China relief fund.

Tudor Investment Corporation has made a $50,000 contribution to AmeriCares to provide funding for its initial shipment of medical supplies to survivors in China's Sichuan Province.

Tyco Electronics Ltd. announced on May 21 that it is extending additional support for rescue and recovery efforts in China by donating RMB 7 million ($1 million) worth of emergency wireless communications equipment and field technical services for use by disaster relief teams in China. The company's Wireless Systems segment is providing mobile communications equipment, portable and mobile radios, base stations and network control equipment, as well as engineering assistance provided by staff in China. Tyco Electronics last week announced that it had donated RMB 1 million ($143,000) in cash to the Red Cross Society of China. The company's Network Solutions segment has already committed RMB 600,000 ($86,000) worth of products and services to help rebuild critical telecommunications and energy networks in China. The company has also established the Tyco Electronics China Earthquake Relief Fund, an internal fund to which company employees have already contributed more than RMB 1.4 million ($200,000) to provide direct support for their affected co-workers in China.

Underwriters Laboratories will be launching a contribution program to match employee donations for disaster relief in China.

The United Airlines Foundation is matching up to $50,000 in donations from employees and will give out up to 5 million frequent flyer miles--500 bonus miles to each Mileage Plus customer who donates at least $50 to the American Red Cross through united.com. United is partnering with the American Red Cross, which is working closely with the Red Cross Society of China and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The carrier will also provide cargo space to transport critical supplies to the region. United is also collaborating with Operation USA and its Star Alliance partners to identify and facilitate relief needs.

UPS is contributing a total of $1 million in cash and in-kind support to the earthquake relief efforts in China. Through its charitable arm, The UPS Foundation, UPS is making a cash donation of $500,000 to the American Red Cross in support of its earthquake response efforts on the ground in China, in conjunction with The Red Cross Society of China. UPS has also pledged an additional $500,000 for in-kind support to aid the transportation of relief supplies.

The Verizon Foundation has started a 1-to-1 match for every dollar donated by Verizon employees to aid victims of the cyclones in Myanmar and the earthquake in Sichuan, China. The foundation will match individual employee contributions of up to $1,000 per employee. All contributions received through the program will go to Save the Children, which is assisting children and their families in both Myanmar and China.

Visa Inc. has donated $500,000 to international relief and development organization Oxfam, which is helping to bring disaster aid to China and Myanmar.

Wal-Mart Stores has pledged more than RMB 20 million ($3 million) for relief and reconstruction to date and the company is looking to establish a permanent charitable foundation in China as a means to support long-term reconstruction. Contributions from associates, customers and suppliers currently exceed RMB 6 million, with additional donations being made daily. So far, some 30 truck loads of supplies have been delivered to the four cities of Deyang, Mianzhu, Shifang and Guangyuan. Supplies include water, food, tents, sleeping bags, blankets, batteries, flashlights, gloves, facial masks, shovels, and other items in short supply. Wal-mart has coordinated its efforts with the local governments, relief organizations and China Civil Affairs Bureau. Partnering with more than 200 suppliers and the local Red Cross, Wal-Mart held a three-day nationwide charity sale with all proceeds going directly to earthquake victims. With the China Red Cross and China Charity Fund, the company is collecting donations from customers. Wal-Mart associates in the U.S., Japan, Canada, India and other countries also are raising funds to support fellow associates and their communities. Up to 15 stores were initially closed. As of May 26 only one Trust-Mart store in Dujiangyan remained closed due to structural damage. Of the 5,500 Trust-Mart and Wal-Mart associates that live and work in the earthquake-affected region, all associates have been located but more than 550 have either lost their homes or their houses are severely damaged. Several also have lost loved ones. Wal-mart is giving them extra financial support, access to counseling, and other assistance.

Watson Wyatt (US) will provide monetary assistance through a matching donation to the Red Cross to help those affected by this disaster. Watson Wyatt will match employees' donations to the Red Cross China Earthquake Relief Fund up to a $50,000 total contribution from the company. Watson Wyatt (Greater China) also has collected employee donations with matching donations for China Earthquake Relief Fund.

Westinghouse Electric Company is donating RMB 1 million ($143,000) to the Red Cross Society of China. In addition, Westinghouse employees from three sites in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Connecticut have contributed approximately $20,000 to a China earthquake relief fund established jointly by the Pittsburgh Chinese School and Chinese Association for Science & Technology - Pittsburgh Chapter.
